Every dollar donated across the Fargo region is making a difference for local patients, families and employees. Through philanthropy, lifesaving care is offered close to home at facilities like the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, the Sanford Medical Center and the Sanford Children’s Hospital. We introduced the regions first facility dog, Fox who provides comfort and enhances care for patients at Sanford Children’s Hospital. We’re working to provide a home-like retreat for cancer patients and families through the region’s first-ever center for patient lodging. When it opens in 2026, the Peltier Lodge will provide a home away from home for cancer patients and their families.

Local Priorities

Philanthropy is an integral part of the care provided at Sanford Health. With your support, we can move forward on construction of the Peltier Lodge, an on-campus lodging facility designed to provide patients and their families with a home away from home during treatment and throughout their outpatient care and monitoring.

Cancer

Home to North Dakota’s only Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Program, the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center has become a regional destination for care. With your help we can expand treatment options, like bone marrow transplant, and enhance services like nurse navigation, art therapy, music therapy, survivorship programs and financial assistance to help cover the costs of lodging, meals and transportation.

The Sanford Children’s Hospital proudly serves as North Dakota’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Funds raised stay local to support services and programs like Child Life, school tutoring, and music therapy, provide education and help purchase lifesaving equipment to save and transform lives, close to home.

Gifts to the Fargo Edith Sanford Breast Center Fund help supplement the costs of lifesaving MRIs and 3D mammograms, supports services like nurse navigation, genetic counseling and survivorship programming at no cost to patients and funds cutting-edge equipment and technology to improve breast cancer detection and treatment.

Each year, more than 16,000 local kids of all ages — from fragile infants born too soon to teens facing complex health conditions — and their families turn to Sanford Children’s Hospital for extra or unexpected care. In 2005, we were one of those families. Born four weeks early, our son, Patrick, spent time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where leading-edge equipment made possible by philanthropy helped him grow and thrive until finally, we were able to take him home. During that time, Sanford Children’s was more than a hospital for our family, it was a lifeline to hope thanks to programs and services fueled by the generosity of donors.

As the largest nonprofit pediatric health care system in North Dakota, philanthropy is at the heart of everything we do at Sanford Children’s Hospital. Here, the generosity of donors surrounds kids and families from the moment they walk through our doors by powering everything children need to get better, faster close to home, including:

- Lifesaving equipment like ventilators, dialysis systems, ultrasound machines and Giraffe OmniBeds which mimic a mother’s womb for NICU infants
- Patient care and family support programs like Child Life, music therapy, our hospital teacher, our facility dog program and more
- Community services like our Sanford Children’s Wellness Pantry provide healthy food and resources to families who identify as food insecure
- And so much more
