giving for good marshfield

Across the Marshfield region, your generosity enhances patient care and research in our communities. 100% of donations stay local to help brave people fighting cancer, support expert care for kids, assist families in need and advance healthcare close to home. Your gifts offer a home away from home for cancer patients at Cattails Place. You provide child life and expressive therapies, including a facility dog, for kids at Marshfield Children’s Hospital. You made it possible to open a new cancer center at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson.

Last year, we put $8.1 million in philanthropic gifts to work across the Marshfield region. Read more in the 2025 annual report.

Local Priorities

Philanthropy is an integral part of the care provided at Marshfield Clinic. The Sanford Health Foundation in the Marshfield region plays a crucial role in supporting specific programming for patients and staff, upgrading essential equipment, and funding special projects tailored to meet the needs of our communities.

Children

Marshfield Children’s Hospital is one of only four in Wisconsin and the only one serving central and northern regions. Your donations provide expert, compassionate care — including child life services, music therapy, a facility dog, NICU care for high-risk infants, specialized equipment, kid-friendly spaces and family assistance.

Cancer

Your gifts enhance cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention at regional cancer centers. Local support also provides free housing at Cattails Place, new technology and equipment, healing spaces, survivorship programs, patient comfort items and covers essential needs like travel and meals.

Research

The Marshfield Clinic Research brings nationally-recognized research studies and clinical trials to families in our rural communities. Your gifts fund innovative, potentially lifesaving research into cancer, heart disease, neurological disorders, mental health, tick-borne illnesses and rare diseases.

Patient Assistance

Many families in rural areas struggle with financial hardship, and they shouldn’t have to choose between healthcare for their loved ones and basic necessities. Support for Angel Funds provides financial assistance for non-medical needs, including housing, transportation, meals and utilities.

Leadership Connection

A region update from Dr. Brian Hoerneman, president & CEO of Sanford Health Marshfield Clinic.
June, 2026

For families experiencing a cancer journey, moments matter. The moment a patient receives a life-changing diagnosis. The moments of hope and healing during treatment. And one of the most meaningful moments — when a patient rings the end-of-treatment bell and becomes a survivor. Across our Marshfield Clinic region, our care teams want every cancer patient to be able to experience that moment. We use state of the art technology for diagnosis and treatment, offer access to hundreds of clinical research trials, and provide support programs to give patients the best chance of living beyond cancer — all of which are possible because of our generous donors. Last year, more than 15,000 cancer patients turned to us for their care.

Gifts to our local cancer care and research programs from people like you help us provide comprehensive cancer care close to home for the communities we serve. During National Cancer Survivors Month, we honor not only those who have rung the bell to signify the end of their treatment, but also those still fighting and those we have lost. With your help, we can continue providing the best care possible to help more patients become survivors.
