giving for good fargo

Every dollar donated across the Fargo region is making a difference for local patients, families and employees. Through philanthropy, lifesaving care is offered close to home at facilities like the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, the Sanford Medical Center and the Sanford Children’s Hospital. We introduced the regions first facility dog, Fox who provides comfort and enhances care for patients at Sanford Children’s Hospital. We’re working to provide a home-like retreat for cancer patients and families through the region’s first-ever center for patient lodging. When it opens in 2026, the Peltier Lodge will provide a home away from home for cancer patients and their families.

Last year, we put $4.1 million in philanthropic gifts to work across the Fargo region. Read more in the 2025 annual report.

Local Priorities

Philanthropy is an integral part of the care provided at Sanford Health. The Sanford Health Foundation in the Fargo region plays a crucial role in supporting specific programming for patients and staff, upgrading essential equipment, and funding special projects tailored to meet the needs of our communities.

The Peltier Lodge

With your support, we can move forward on construction of the Peltier Lodge, an on-campus lodging facility designed to provide patients and their families with a home away from home during treatment and throughout their outpatient care and monitoring.

Leadership Connection

A region update from Tiffany Lawrence, president & CEO of Sanford Fargo
February 26, 2026

Every day, we are reminded of what makes our community so incredible.

Six years ago this month, the generosity of friends like you helped us open North Dakota’s first inpatient hospice house, built with compassion and support to care for our community.

Since opening our doors, the Sanford Fargo Hospice House, located within Sanford Broadway Medical Center, has provided end-of-life care for more than 500 patients and their loved ones. During that time, our team has also extended this mission beyond our walls with our in-home hospice services, providing high-quality, end-of-life care throughout our community. Today, the same generosity that helped us establish the hospice house continues to sustain it, supporting our day-to-day operations and fueling meaningful programs for patients and loved ones.

February is a month to celebrate love, and that’s exactly what our hospice house represents. The love of our caregivers and staff. The love between patients and their families. And the love of a community that shows up for what matters most, providing support that allows us to care for patients when they are at their most vulnerable.

Thanks to donors like you, we are able to ensure that patients’ final chapters can be written with grace, comfort and love. We are forever grateful.
