giving for good fargo
Every dollar donated across the Fargo region is making a difference for local patients, families and employees. Through philanthropy, lifesaving care is offered close to home at facilities like the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, the Sanford Medical Center and the Sanford Children’s Hospital. We introduced the regions first facility dog, Fox who provides comfort and enhances care for patients at Sanford Children’s Hospital. We’re working to provide a home-like retreat for cancer patients and families through the region’s first-ever center for patient lodging. When it opens in 2026, the Peltier Lodge will provide a home away from home for cancer patients and their families.
Last year, we put $3.5 million in philanthropic gifts to work across the Fargo region. Read more in the 2024 annual report.
Local Priorities
Philanthropy is an integral part of the care provided at Sanford Health. The Sanford Health Foundation in the Fargo region plays a crucial role in supporting specific programming for patients and staff, upgrading essential equipment, and funding special projects tailored to meet the needs of our communities.

Leadership Connection
A region update from Tiffany Lawrence, president & CEO of Sanford Fargo
October 7, 2025
Today, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, impacting one in eight women during their lifetime. If you or someone you love has faced the fear and uncertainty of a breast cancer diagnosis, working together, we can make the journey easier. Together, we can improve access to lifesaving screenings, accelerate advances in care and research and give strength and support to local patients fighting this devastating disease right now. To those of you who already support the Edith Sanford Breast Center, please know how grateful we are for your generosity. If you are looking for a way to get involved, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the perfect time to make a difference. The local events planned across our community aren’t just symbolic — they make a real impact for patients and families when it matters most.
It takes all of us to win the fight against breast cancer. And when we unite as a community, we can not only turn awareness into action, we can turn hope into healing.
