giving for good fargo
Every dollar donated across the Fargo region is making a difference for local patients, families and employees. Through philanthropy, lifesaving care is offered close to home at facilities like the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, the Sanford Medical Center and the Sanford Children’s Hospital. We introduced the regions first facility dog, Fox who provides comfort and enhances care for patients at Sanford Children’s Hospital. We’re working to provide a home-like retreat for cancer patients and families through the region’s first-ever center for patient lodging. When it opens in 2026, the Peltier Lodge will provide a home away from home for cancer patients and their families.
Last year, we put $4.1 million in philanthropic gifts to work across the Fargo region. Read more in the 2025 annual report.
Local Priorities
Philanthropy is an integral part of the care provided at Sanford Health. The Sanford Health Foundation in the Fargo region plays a crucial role in supporting specific programming for patients and staff, upgrading essential equipment, and funding special projects tailored to meet the needs of our communities.
Leadership Connection
A region update from Tiffany Lawrence, president & CEO of Sanford Fargo
June, 2026
Every day, 600 patients visit the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center for care and treatment. Behind those patients are 600 different stories of people who are facing the pain, heartbreak and disruption of a cancer diagnosis. These are people from every age and stage of life who are trusting us to help them through some of their most difficult moments.
For those navigating a cancer journey, moments matter. The meaningful moments before their cancer diagnosis. The moments of hope and healing during treatment. And the moment every cancer patient looks forward to: ringing the bell at the end of treatment. At the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, our care teams want every cancer patient to experience that moment. To help them get there, we use state of the art technology for diagnosis and treatment, offer access to hundreds of clinical trials and provide support programs to give patients the best chance of living beyond cancer, all of which are fueled by generous philanthropic investments from friends like you.
We are so grateful to be in a community that shows up and steps forward when it matters most. We see it time and time again, including earlier this month when Roger Maris All-Star Week events raised more than $1 million for patients at the Roger Maris Cancer Center and to advance the Peltier Lodge, our new center for patient lodging. As we celebrate National Cancer Survivors Month, we honor those who have rung the bell, the caregivers who walk beside them and the generous donors whose support ensures that here, no one faces cancer alone. Because of you, hope is never out of reach and we are so grateful.
