Bismarck Motor Company and the families of Chris and Keri Schneider and Bob and Mary Kupper recently made a $150,000 donation to the Sanford Health Foundation to benefit the Above and Beyond campaign for child life in Bismarck.
At Sanford Bismarck, the child life team, consisting of a certified child life specialist and a board-certified music therapist, works behind the scenes and in tandem with doctors and nurses to ensure each child who walks through our door has the best experience possible.
Chris Schneider, co-owner and general manager of Bismarck Motor Company, and co-owner Bob Kupper, saw how important the service was when Kupper’s grandson was born at 29 weeks, weighing just 1 pound, 10 ounces, and requiring advanced medical care.
The experience inspired Schneider and Kupper to give back to help other children and families in the community.
Schneider recently shared why supporting causes like child life is so important for local businesses:
Why is it important for you to give back as a company?
One of our core values as a company is being good community citizens. We give willingly to and are actively involved in the support of our community because they are the ones who provide us our success.
What impact do you hope to have in the community?
We hope to have a positive impact. We always tell our employees that our goal is to be so effective that we are able to be helpful to others. We hope that carries through with our community impact as well.
Why is supporting local health care especially important?
By supporting local health care, you’re directly impacting people within your own community. It’s so important for us to do what we can for the people who would do the same for us.
What would you say to other business owners who are considering a gift?
To do it. The impact you make on your community directly affects your business. Not only does it make a great impact for those who need it, but it feels great to give when you can.
