When the unexpected happens, Sanford employees have a lifeline: the Employee Crisis Assistance Program.
Thanks to generous donors, this fund has provided over $3.2 million in support to more than 3,100 employees since 2020.
For Sarah Winkle, senior marketing specialist for Sanford Health in Bemidji, that support made all the difference after devastating storms hit her community.
Sarah’s Story
Months after the storms that swept through Bemidji in June 2025, Sarah and her children finally moved back into their home.
The damage was extensive. Trees crashed on top of the house during the storm, making it unlivable. Repairs included a new roof and major structural work, and even now, Sarah is still navigating the rebuilding process.
The Employee Crisis Assistance Program has helped ease the burden. Now, Sarah has a message for her fellow employees.
“I just want people to know that there is help if they need it,” said Sarah. “You are worthy of it.”
