Local Priorities

Philanthropy is an integral part of the care provided at Sanford Health. The Sanford Health Foundation in the Bismarck region plays a crucial role in supporting specific programming for patients and staff, upgrading essential equipment, and funding special projects tailored to meet the needs of our communities.

Cancer

This year, hundreds of local patients count on the Sanford Cancer Center in Bismarck. Through philanthropy, we provide travel assistance for qualifying patients who drive significant distances for care, offer complimentary wigs and head coverings, upgrade equipment to offer access to lifesaving MRIs and 3D mammograms, and so much more.

The Sanford Children’s Hospital Bismarck supports local infants, kids and teens everyday through child life services to help kids cope with the fear and uncertainties of hospitalization, financial assistance to help families with costs not covered by insurance, lifesaving pediatric equipment like ventilators and monitors, and so much more.

As we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, I want to recognize the strength, resilience and courage of the hundreds of patients from across our region who face the pain and heartbreak of a breast cancer diagnosis each year. Breast cancer impacts more than the person receiving treatment. It touches spouses and partners, children, friends and entire communities. That’s why we believe breast cancer care is about more than treating a disease. It’s about caring for the whole person, supporting families, restoring hope, preserving quality of life and helping patients return to ordinary life.

Every day, our caregivers and staff at the Edith Sanford Breast Center in Bismarck work tirelessly to provide compassionate care for patients and families, from prevention and early detection to treatment, support services including complimentary wigs and head coverings, survivorship initiatives and more — all to help patients return to the people, places and moments they cherish most. Philanthropy plays a vital role in making this work possible. Your support helps expand access to lifesaving screenings, supports innovative treatments and breakthroughs in research, enhances care and ensures patients receive the resources they need throughout the journey. Simply put, philanthropy enables us to surround breast cancer patients with everything they need from day one of a diagnosis.
