giving for good marshfield

Across the Marshfield region, your generosity enhances patient care and research in our communities. 100% of donations stay local to help brave people fighting cancer, support expert care for kids, assist families in need and advance health care close to home. Your gifts offer a home away from home for cancer patients at Cattails Place. You provide child life and expressive therapies, including a facility dog, for kids at Marshfield Children’s Hospital. You made it possible to open a new cancer center at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson.

Last year, we put $5.4 million in philanthropic gifts to work across the Marshfield region. Read more in the 2024 annual report.

Local Priorities

Philanthropy is an integral part of the care provided at Marshfield Clinic. The Sanford Health Foundation in the Marshfield region plays a crucial role in supporting specific programming for patients and staff, upgrading essential equipment, and funding special projects tailored to meet the needs of our communities.

Cancer

Your gifts enhance cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention at our regional cancer centers. Support for local cancer care provides free housing for cancer patients and families at Cattails Place, new technology and equipment, healing spaces, survivorship and support programs, patient comfort items and assistance to cover essential needs like travel and meals.

Children

Marshfield Children’s Hospital is one of only four children’s hospitals in Wisconsin, and the only children’s hospital serving central and northern Wisconsin. As a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partner, your donations offer expert, compassionate care for kids — providing child life services, music therapy, our children’s hospital facility dog, care for high-risk infants in the neonatal intensive care unit, specialized equipment, kid-friendly spaces and assistance for families in need.

Research

The Marshfield Clinic Research brings nationally-recognized research studies and clinical trials to families in our rural communities. Your gifts fund innovative, potentially lifesaving research into cancer, heart disease, neurological disorders, mental health, tick-borne illnesses and rare diseases.

Patient Assistance

Many families in rural areas struggle with financial hardship, and they shouldn’t have to choose between health care for their loved ones and basic necessities. Support for Angel Funds provides financial assistance for non-medical needs, including housing, transportation, meals and utilities.

Leadership Connection

A region update from Dr. Brian Hoerneman, president & CEO of Sanford Marshfield.
September 2025

Reflecting on the past year, I could not be more proud and excited for the future of Marshfield Clinic as part of Sanford Health. Our care teams, staff and leaders have worked tirelessly to continue offering the best care to patients while integrating with our new Sanford colleagues. Even though we have only been a combined system since January 2025, our shared mission to care, comfort and cure guides us forward.

In addition to integration work with Sanford, the Marshfield region is celebrating important milestones in patient care and research—made possible by support from donors like you. We are completing phase II of the Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls reconstruction project, which opens this year. Our new Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson Cancer Center now offers more than 10 clinical trials to local cancer patients, with the Foundation recently completing fundraising for the $3 million capital campaign to enhance the Cancer Center. At Marshfield Children’s Hospital, our new facility dog, Dolly, is bringing joy and comfort to kids thanks to donations through Children’s Miracle Network.

Philanthropy has always been at the heart of Marshfield Clinic. Together with Sanford Health, we are now the largest nonprofit rural health system in the country, and your gifts will continue to stay local to benefit our patients and communities. Thank you for your continued generosity as we build an even brighter future for rural health care.
