giving for good marshfield

Across the Marshfield region, your generosity enhances patient care and research in our communities. 100% of donations stay local to help brave people fighting cancer, support expert care for kids, assist families in need and advance health care close to home. Your gifts offer a home away from home for cancer patients at Cattails Place. You provide child life and expressive therapies, including a facility dog, for kids at Marshfield Children’s Hospital. You made it possible to open a new cancer center at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson.

Last year, we put $5.4 million in philanthropic gifts to work across the Marshfield region. Read more in the 2024 annual report.

Local Priorities

Philanthropy is an integral part of the care provided at Marshfield Clinic. The Sanford Health Foundation in the Marshfield region plays a crucial role in supporting specific programming for patients and staff, upgrading essential equipment, and funding special projects tailored to meet the needs of our communities.

Cancer

Your gifts enhance cancer diagnosis, treatment, and prevention at regional cancer centers. Local support also provides free housing at Cattails Place, new technology and equipment, healing spaces, survivorship programs, patient comfort items and covers essential needs like travel and meals.

Patient Assistance

Many families in rural areas struggle with financial hardship, and they shouldn’t have to choose between health care for their loved ones and basic necessities. Support for Angel Funds provides financial assistance for non-medical needs, including housing, transportation, meals and utilities.

Leadership Connection

A region update from Dr. Brian Hoerneman, president & CEO of Sanford Health Marshfield Clinic.
February 26, 2026

Decades of health research and analysis have shown us that gratitude is far more than just a polite gesture. Gratitude plays an important role in a patient’s emotional and physical well-being. Gratitude is linked to improved psychological health, reduced stress and even better overall health outcomes. We also know that expressing gratitude strengthens relationships and enhances the care experience for both patients and caregivers, fostering a deeper sense of connection and healing.

That’s why our Shining Star program is so powerful. It’s a dedicated way for patients and families to express their thanks and appreciation in a meaningful way. Beyond its healing benefits, the program also allows patients and loved ones to give a gift of gratitude, helping future patients and families experience that same compassionate care. This special program also lifts the spirits of our caregivers and reminds them why their work matters. And the best part: every honoree receives special recognition and a Shining Star pin they can wear with pride — a visible reminder that their care made an impact. Last year, more than 500 Shining Stars were awarded across the Marshfield region.

If someone at Sanford Health Marshfield Clinic made a difference for you or a loved one, I encourage you to experience the power of gratitude and explore this program today.
