Sanford Children’s Hospital

The sixth floor of Sanford Medical Center is a vibrant, colorful place dedicated to caring for kids, from fragile infants born too soon to teens facing cancer.

 

Here, you can find our:

  • Pediatric Care Unit (PICU)
  • Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) featuring 10 of the region’s only private rooms and NICVIEW, a 24/7 access webcam system for families
  • Cancer care, provided by the region’s only pediatric oncologist team

Sanford Children’s Campus

Our newly expanded campus in north Bismarck includes three buildings offering:

  • Primary and specialty care
  • Well baby and lactation clinic
  • Sanford Children’s Therapies, offering occupational, speech and physical therapy

Child Life

We know an unexpected diagnosis or injury can turn a child’s life upside down. That’s why we’re proud to offer the region’s only child life program at no cost to families, thanks to generous donors.

Music and Art Therapy

Helping kids experience the healing benefits of creative expression.

Coping Tools

Positive distractions and pain management options through devices like tablets, VR headsets and noise cancelling headphones.

Pretend Play

Easing kids’ fears and anxieties prior to medical procedures by encouraging questions and promoting understanding through health care-themed play sets like pretend vein finders, blood pressure cuffs, syringes (without needles) and pretend specialized equipment like IV lines and chemotherapy ports.

Personalized Care Plans

Meeting each child’s unique needs through customized care plans developed in collaboration with physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers and other caregivers.

Family-Centered Care

Extending support beyond the pediatric patient to provide comfort, guidance, education and resources for parents and siblings as they navigate the challenges of a child’s medical journey.
