mobile mammography
Early Detection Across Northern Minnesota
Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women today, affecting nearly 100 women in our region each year.
While mammograms are the first line of defense for detecting breast cancer in its earliest and most treatable stages, research shows that many women forgo these essential screenings due to barriers such as proximity to a local health care facility, lack of transportation, cost and other factors.
Together, we can help change that. Because where you live should never determine the state of your health.

Join us in providing greater access to lifesaving breast cancer screenings with our new 3D Mobile Mammography unit, the first-ever mobile mammography service to be offered for the Bemidji region.
Early Detection for Successful Outcomes
- Our Mobile Mammography service will add over 1,100 screenings each year, with appointments typically taking less than 25 minutes, eliminating the need for patients to take a day off work
- Low dose 3D mammograms detect breast cancer at its earliest stages
- In 2023, 76% of breast cancers diagnosed at Edith Sanford in Bemidji were caught at stage 0 or stage 1 when most treatable
- Increasing breast cancer rates among underserved populations highlight the need for accessible mammography services
- The Mobile Mammography unit is expected to increase screening rates among underserved women by up to 5%.
Help Launch Phase One
With your support, we can bring the latest 3D mammography technology to more women in our region, saving more lives by October 2025, in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Phase one of our Mobile Mammography plan includes Walker, Bagley, Blackduck, Cass Lake, and Park Rapids, with additional locations to be added later.
