Miranda’s Story: Hope When It’s Needed Most

When the unexpected happens, the ripple effects can be life-changing. That’s why the Employee Crisis Assistance Program, supported by generous donors across our communities, exists: to give Sanford employees a lifeline to hope during their hardest moments.

Miranda’s Story

In August 2024, Miranda Connor, a marketing analyst for Sanford Health Marshfield Clinic, was in Green Bay, Wisconsin looking forward to her first Packers Family Fun Night when she received a call from her husband, Caleb, that changed everything.

“Miranda, our house is on fire.”

Caleb — a volunteer firefighter in their small town of Arpin, Wisconsin — had responded to a structure fire call, only to discover upon arrival that it was his own home. By the time Miranda got back to town, the couple had lost nearly everything, including their beloved pets.

“It was a whirlwind,” Miranda said. “Work was the last thing on my mind. I just needed time to figure things out.”

Support When It Matters Most

The Employee Crisis Assistance Program, previously the HOPE Fund, helped the Connors begin the difficult process of rebuilding.

“This financial support eased some of our immediate worries and let us focus on what mattered most,” said Miranda. “I’m incredibly grateful for this resource and the caring donors behind it.”

Over the next year, the couple rebuilt their home and began to heal. Today, they’re settling in — along with their new puppy who brings light and joy into their lives.

Having experienced the impact of donor generosity firsthand, Miranda now gives regularly to the Employee Crisis Assistance Program to help ensure other Sanford employees can receive support when they need it most.
