Mimi Diffley scholarships awarded to 28 employees

This fall, 28 Sanford employees were awarded a 2021 Mimi Diffley Memorial Employee Scholarship to further their careers in health care. Thank you to the generous supporters who make this scholarship opportunity possible.

Words of gratitude from a 2021 recipient:

Dear Mimi Diffley Family,

I want to thank you so much for letting me participate in this scholarship and be a part of carrying on the Mimi Diffley name! I can’t tell you how much this means to me and my family to be able to continue my education. Ever since I was young I always dreamed of getting my Masters in Business Administration and now I am doing so with the help of your scholarship. You and your family are truly inspiring and a blessing to community! We appreciate all you do for the community and for Sanford Staff Members.

Sincerely,

About the Mimi Diffley Memorial Scholarship

Mimi Diffley dedicated her life to caring for patients. During her more than 20 years as a nurse at Sanford Bemidji, she put the comfort of her patients first, even if it meant skipping breaks or working late to catch up on paperwork.

Mimi passed away in 2007 after a six-year battle with breast cancer. Even when she had to retire early and later lost her vision due to complications related to her cancer treatments, she never lost her spirit and positive attitude.

To honor her legacy, her family founded the Mimi Diffley Memorial Employee Scholarship to help educate the next generation of health care workers. Members of the Sanford Family seeking to further their career in health care are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
