Walmart and Sam’s Club: making miracles happen

January 22, 2018

Thank you to Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota helped support miracles in a big way last year. During the 30th annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising campaign, they rallied their teams, customers and members to raise more than $251,000 for Sanford Children’s Fargo.

To celebrate their achievement some store representatives visited Sanford Children’s Hospital in December. They even brought a new mode of transportation for the pediatric patients – a Disney Frozen ride-on sleigh, that came complete with authentic graphics, flashing lights and a tune that plays on command.

Matt Knight, Walmart store manager on 13th Avenue in Fargo, said the visit made the campaign more meaningful as they watched the first patient, Claire Windus (pictured with store associates on the Events page), try out the sleigh.

“Seeing her walk in the room was super exciting,” Knight said, adding that it gave them goosebumps to see their gift cheering up kids right away.

Donations were raised between Aug. 28 and Oct. 29 when Walmart and Sam’s Club associates at 23 locations held various in-store fundraising activities and asked customers and members to help local kids during check-out.

These gifts will help purchase special pediatric equipment and support unique programs that benefit children and their families from all across the state of North Dakota and northwest Minnesota who rely on Sanford Children’s for health and healing.

Thank you to everyone who helped make miracles happen with Walmart and Sam’s Club!
