In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, join TeamEdith at two popular events this October: the United in Hope luncheon and the Bartender Battle for Breast Cancer featuring a new set of competitors.
TeamEdith is a fundraising movement led by the Sanford Health Foundation that unites our community in the fight against breast cancer. Every dollar raised at these events stays local to support patient care and research through the Edith Sanford Breast Initiative.
This includes helping patients offset the cost of 3D mammogram screenings and wigs, as well as providing state of the art early detection equipment. Together, these events raised more than $75,000 last year.
United in Hope luncheon presented by First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard and Wireless World
Jessica Arend, 39, is a wife, mother of three boys and business professional in Sioux Falls. In March, she discovered a lump in her breast that led to a cancer diagnosis.
With the support of her Edith Sanford caregivers, Arend has remained positive throughout her journey and is especially passionate about educating women on the importance of self-breast exams and early detection.
Arend will share her story during the fourth annual United in Hope luncheon. New this year, Chef Dominique Fontenille, owner of Chef Dominque’s Catering and Banquet Facility, will prepare a wonderful meal for our guests on stage. During his demonstration, Emily Hofer, a senior wellness programs specialist for Sanford Health Plan, will share the importance of healthy eating not only for cancer prevention but during treatment and remission.
