Making miracles at Midwest Communications Radiothon for Kids

December 13, 2019

On Dec. 5 and 6, during the 14th annual Midwest Communications Radiothon for Kids presented by Seykora Remodeling, an incredible group of donors, volunteers and Miracle Families rallied for the kids at Sanford Children’s and raised of $278,509!

“It’s amazing to see that this event is often so much more than fundraising,” said Erin Sanderson, development manager for Sanford Children’s Miracle Network. “What’s equally inspiring is seeing the outpouring of love and support for local families going through the unimaginable.”

Remarkable support

Thank you to everyone who supported the radiothon, from individual donors to corporate sponsors. A special thank you to our radio partners: Big Country 92.5, Kelo-FM 101.9, New Q95.7 and KRRO 103.7 from Midwest Communications for sharing our Miracle stories.

Every dollar raised will stay local to create more miracles in 2020 for kids at Sanford Children’s, the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

Here are some other highlights:

  • New this year, Midwest Communications Program Director Tom Mitchell interviewed families and published the videos to social media. Find them online at facebook.com/cmnradiothon.
  • Miracle Kid Katelyn Tennant passed away in 2016 at the age of 14, but her memory lived on during radiothon. Her little sister volunteered an entire day and the DJs played Katelyn’s story as her mom held hands with other Miracle Moms.
  • One of the newest Miracle Families made an appearance. Jacinda and John Tracy brought their daughter, Braelynn, to the radiothon. Born in June, Braelynn was the smallest baby to ever graduate from the Sanford Children’s Boekelheide Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Sioux Falls.
  • Miracle Kids Jaxon and Jeren Scheff interviewed donors and Miracle Families at the radiothon, cheered when big gifts came in and motivated listeners to call in and pledge their support.
