Special Occasions
From weddings to birthdays to anniversaries and more, special occasion fundraisers make any milestone event more meaningful because they support the lifesaving work of Sanford Health.
Dr. Rachel Cooper knew the best wedding gift her guests could give would be to support her patients and families on the OB/Peds unit at Sanford Bemidji.
Athletic Events
From corn hole to speed walking, from pickle ball to golf, to everything in between — every toss, every mile and every game can move us closer to our mission of improving the human condition.
Employees at Starion Bank in Bismarck wanted to make a difference for local kids, so they organized a community corn hole tournament to benefit Sanford Children’s Hospital.
Community Fundraisers
Activate your community by holding your own fundraiser for an area that means the most to you. From silent auctions to bake sales and more, your fundraiser can do a world of good right here at home.
The community of Aberdeen rallied around its love of hockey and its passion for helping others through a local fundraiser for Sanford Children’s.
Tribute Fundraisers
Tribute fundraisers are a beautiful way to honor the life and legacy of someone special while helping patients and families right here at home.
Sawyer wanted to honor his grandfather’s memory and the tender care he received during his final days. So he organized a fundraiser in support of Sanford Hospice in Fargo.

Frequently Asked Questions
People fundraise in truly creative and wonderful ways but, from our experience, the most successful fundraisers are those that are family friendly and safe to others.
In addition, the event organizer is responsible for obtaining any necessary insurance, permits and clearances required by local and state government and complying with all applicable laws. Because the Sanford Health Foundation is not hosting the event, you will not be able to use the tax identification number assigned to the entity.
Depending on the nature of your fundraiser, you can accept donations in a couple different ways:
- If you’re hosting a “do-it-yourself” fundraiser, such as a bake sale, car wash or pancake breakfast, you can simply collect donations at the event. You can then drop-off or send those donations to your location Sanford Health Foundation office. The event organizer is responsible for collecting all donations not submitted through our website.
- If your idea involves a team, requires registration and/or is competitive in nature, you can create a personalized fundraising web page through which your participants can donate online.
No. We’re grateful for every gift. Every gift — no matter the size — makes a difference.
While there is not a minimum fundraising threshold, we aren’t able to guarantee the availability of our staff members to attend/assist with your event. We deeply value our fundraisers’ events and would love to attend each one, but unfortunately, our schedules don’t always permit. If you have concerns or additional questions regarding this, please complete this form!
If you’re under age 18, please make sure your parent/guardian reviews and accepts our volunteer fundraiser terms and conditions and takes responsibility for ensuring your fundraising is safe and legal.
If your effort includes an auction, raffle or form of gambling activity, please clearly state that intent on the form listed in Step 2 above. These efforts may require state or local specific licenses with other compliance steps needing to be taken into consideration.
If you worked with the Sanford Health Foundation to create a web page for your fundraiser, all donors who give through your fundraiser’s web page will receive a charitable tax receipt. We cannot issue charitable tax receipts for donors who make payments directly to your fundraiser via cash or check. Donors who need a tax receipt should write a check payable to the Sanford Health Foundation with the event name included. For a donor to receive a tax receipt from the Foundation, the check must be mailed directly to the Foundation including details on if the donor received anything in return for the contribution.
Please send checks, along with a note that includes your fundraising campaign name and contact information to the Sanford Health Foundation office closest to you.
For security purposes, we do not recommend sending cash donations by mail. For any cash donation you receive, please convert the cash to cashier’s checks or money orders payable to the Sanford Health Foundation.
If you have questions about a fundraising idea, or have questions related to donations from your fundraiser’s participants, please complete this form and we’ll be in touch!
