In June, Children’s Miracle Network at Sanford Children’s Hospital Fargo celebrated the partnership of Walmart and Sam’s Club with associates from all across the state of North Dakota and western Minnesota.
Associates were invited to a special event at the new Sanford Medical Center, where they met patients who’ve benefited from their generosity through the years. The morning was capped off with the unveiling of the Walmart and Sam’s Club Emergency Department Pediatric Center, a special place for kids named to honor the long-standing support of associates, customers and members.
“I’m so excited to have all of you here today to celebrate you and your amazing accomplishments,” said Hillery Mork, Sanford Health Foundation development manager, at the event.
Since 1991 — when Walmart and Sam’s Club first opened stores in the Fargo-Moorhead area — they’ve helped raise more than $3 million for sick and injured kids across the region.
“It almost seems like fate that we are opening this beautiful medical center the same year that Walmart and Sam’s Club celebrates 30 years in partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” Mork said. “There couldn’t be a better time or place to recognize your incredible dedication.”
Special guest John Lauck, president and CEO of CMN Hospitals, said he’s grateful for the commitment of Walmart and Sam’s Club.
“They’ve been amazing allies in our quest to help kids live better,” Lauck said.
Charlie Hedden, Walmart market manager, responded humbly.
“We’re proud to use Walmart’s size and strength in this way to help those who need it most,” Hedden said.
On July 25, the first patients were welcomed at the new Walmart and Sam’s Club Emergency Department Pediatric Center at Sanford Medical Center Fargo. It’s a safe and kid-friendly area in the emergency department. The space is complete with a separate waiting area featuring artwork, activities and furniture designed for children.
Many thanks to Walmart and Sam’s Club, who help make miracles happen for kids every day. Learn more about Children’s Miracle Network at Sanford Children’s or make a gift today!
