A Minnesota Viking helps reimagine cancer care

August 29, 2019

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, Adam Thielen, and his wife, Caitlin, recently committed $25,000 to the Reimagine campaign through Thielen Foundation, to help prepare the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center for the next generation of cancer care and discovery.

After growing up in nearby Detroit Lakes, the Fargo area has remained important to Adam. Founded in September 2018, Thielen Foundation, which seeks to help those in need achieve their full potential, has sought ways to get involved in the local community. The opportunity to give back to Sanford Health, a longtime partner of Adam’s during his NFL career, was a natural fit for him and the foundation.

“Giving back to the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center is something that Caitlin and I are very grateful to be able to do,” said Adam, who serves as Thielen Foundation’s president. “Sanford Health has been one of my top partners over the last three seasons and it has been a pleasure to work with everyone on their team during that time. I’ve seen firsthand the huge impact that Sanford Health is making in our Midwest community and the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center will continue to grow that impact even more.”

The Sanford Health Foundation’s Reimagine campaign will help renovate thousands of additional square feet at Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center and expand research, cancer treatment and services, inpatient hospice care and education and training for the oncology workforce.
