As obstetricians and gynecologists at Sanford Women’s in Bismarck, Dr. Megan Miller-Pankratz and Dr. Jess Sedevie are often present at one of the most important days of their patients’ lives.
“I have the best job ever, and the very best part is watching as a woman becomes a mom and a family becomes more complete with the addition of a new baby,” Dr. Miller-Pankratz said. “It doesn’t matter if it is their first time or fifth, it is always such an amazing moment that I get to witness and be a part of.”
Both physicians’ experiences working with women, not just through pregnancy and birth but all stages of life, inspired them to make generous donations to support Sanford Women’s through the Sanford Health Foundation.
“I love being able to help women live their best lives,” Dr. Sedevie said. “I want to help provide better patient care for the amazing families that I work with on a daily basis. It will be an incredible privilege to see the impact for people I care about.”
Along with their husbands, Lee Pankratz and Lance Sedevie, the physicians each created $50,000 named endowments to support women’s health not just in the short term but for generations to come.
“I have been blessed in so many ways in my life and so I think it is important to give back,” Dr. Miller-Pankratz said. “Hopefully the patients, families and staff that get to enjoy and benefit from my gift will feel inspired to give back in whatever capacity they can.”
Sanford Health matches endowment donations in the Bismarck region, doubling the impact of donors like the Pankratzes and Sedevies.
“I know that I can’t move a mountain by myself, but if I can move a couple boulders and so can my colleagues, and Sanford can match it, then together we can make big changes. We can move mountains,” Dr. Sedevie said. “To me, that’s inspiring.”
