Since surviving sudden cardiac arrest, Hal Peterson is thankful for every day. He makes a point to live fully, enjoying every moment with his wife, Sheila, and family and friends. But he’s never forgotten the team at Sanford Bismarck that saved his life.
To express his gratitude, Peterson sent the following letter to let everyone, from the surgeons to the valets, know how much their care meant to him and his family:
On Friday, July 20, I experienced cardiac arrest at home. My wife, Sheila, immediately called 911 and started chest compressions. Within 30 to 35 minutes of my wife’s call, I was told I was in the Bismarck Sanford ER under the team’s excellent care.
My wife and I so appreciated all of these doctors — their professionalism, their communication skills, their expertise, their caring and thoughtful nature. We also greatly appreciated the advanced medical care available at Sanford Health.
And last, but certainly not least, valet parking. My wife said that they greeted her in the morning and “jogged” to get her car at night.
“Thank you” just doesn’t seem like enough to recognize your tremendous staff. We are so grateful.
A Heart for the Future
Every day, families like the Petersons count on Sanford Bismarck to heal and protect the hearts of their loved ones. Swift, expert care makes all the difference when every minute matters.
Your support today for the A Heart for the Future campaign will help us do more, faster, to meet rising needs for heart services across the region and continue saving lives, close to home.
100% of your gift will help expand patient care and services within existing Sanford facilities and at the future state-of-the-art, all-inclusive heart hospital, which will be built adjacent to the existing medical center in downtown Bismarck.
Together, we can:
- Continue to grow a team of expert physicians, specialists and caregivers.
- Ensure more individuals have access to lifesaving care no matter where they live.
- Enhance outreach programs throughout the state.
