Join the Bismarck Larks in supporting child life by bidding to win a game-worn jersey and attending the team’s Aug. 4 game.
Hitting a home run for local kids isn’t just for the batters on the Bismarck Larks team. You can take a swing at it, too, when you bid to win in our Bismarck Larks jersey auction.
The jerseys will be worn by Larks players in their Aug. 4 game against the La Crosse Loggers. Designed with hand prints of kids who receive care at Sanford Children’s and work closely with the child life team, the colorful items can be displayed or worn for fun.
Visit bidpal.net/Larks or text “Larks” to 243-725 to bid in the auction today. The bidding will close at 5:30 p.m. on game day.
The auction will benefit the child life program at Sanford Bismarck, which helps kids like baseball-lover Carson Gietzen.
Carson is an active 7-year-old boy despite spending much of his short life in and out of the hospital, battling an immune deficiency.
“He doesn’t let it hold him back,” Carson’s mom, Rachel, says.
Carson relies on treatment at Sanford Children’s, where he receives IV infusion treatments every three weeks. Carson used to have anxiety around the IV starts crucial to his treatment.
Now, thanks to the child life program – made possible by generous donors – Carson’s anxiety is no longer a hurdle.
He instead focuses on composing songs based on his favorite video game, Fortnite, or plays with a virtual reality headset to keep his mind off the needle.
These are the simple tools that the child life team uses to help put kids at ease and relieve stress at every stage of the healing process.
