In partnership with supporters across the Sioux Falls region, we are pioneering life-saving medical research and enhancing care for patients at every age and every stage of life. We do this through philanthropy-funded services like child life, nurse navigators for cancer patients, new 3D mammography technology and survivorship programs. We also are helping kids experience the healing power of play and therapeutic benefits of the outdoors through the Billion Pavilion, a new outdoor play area for pediatric patients and their families.

Local Priorities
Philanthropy is an integral part of the care provided at Sanford Health. The Sanford Health Foundation in the Sioux Falls region plays a crucial role in supporting specific programming for patients and staff, upgrading essential equipment, and funding special projects tailored to meet the needs of our communities.
Children
Philanthropy supports the Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partner, through services like child life, Child’s Voice, specialized summer camps for kids living with a chronic health condition, spiritual care, school tutoring and so much more.

On behalf of Sanford Health, I want to thank all those who have called, wrote or shared a tribute following the passing of our friend and chief benefactor, Denny Sanford. Your expressions of sympathy, kind words and heartfelt support mean the world to us. As I reflect on Denny’s life, his legacy and the extraordinary impact he made through philanthropy, I keep coming back to the word “spark.” A spark ignites energy. It builds momentum. It lights the way.
When Denny made his first gift in 2004 to help establish what is today Sanford Children’s Hospital, he sparked a chain reaction of possibility and kindness from others who recognized the profound impact of investing in healthcare. His generosity sparked the spirit of giving in others. One spark became two, then ten, then hundreds. In the years since his initial gift, thousands have followed his lead in giving for good, including friends like you. What an incredible legacy. Denny, thank you for being the spark that changed everything. We are forever grateful.
