This year’s Savor the Flavor Grand Chef Show-off featured an Octoberfest-themed evening with plenty of German-inspired dishes, beer worthy of a prost and an amazing cause — supporting child life services in the Bismarck region.
With more than 250 attendees at Harvest Grill in Mandan, the event raised $120,000 for the Sanford Health Foundation’s Above and Beyond campaign. The fundraising effort launched last year with the goal of bringing child life to the region. See photos from the event on our Facebook page.
Terra Nomad’s new executive chef partner, Cody Monson, earned top honors during the grand chef show-off. Monson showed off Terra Nomad’s vision to serve North Dakota farm-to-table style cooking in a simple and innovative way.
The local eatery won over attendees’ taste buds with pumpkin beer cheese soup crafted with local pumpkin from Forager Farms and cheddar cream.
Here’s a full look at the competitors:
- Ale Works with curried bratwurst
- Broadway Grill & Tavern with beef goulash, spätzle noodles, fried pork schnitzel and rosemary potato cakes
- Sanford Health with German potato salad and kuchen
- Stonehome Brewing Co. with knoephla soup
The success of the event wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors, local restaurants, silent and live auction donors, volunteers and, of course, each individual who joined the evening’s fun.
Savor the Flavor concluded with an exciting announcement from Dr. Mike LeBeau, president of Sanford Bismarck. Dr. LeBeau shared news of a new heart hospital to be built in downtown Bismarck.
