Sanford International returns in September

July 19, 2019

The highly-anticipated second PGA TOUR Champions event is returning to Sioux Falls in September, offering a rare opportunity for golf enthusiasts from across the area to see some of the sport’s all-time greats in action.

The Sanford International Presented by Cambria is scheduled for Sept. 16 to 22 at the Minnehaha Country Club. Golfers expected to attend so far include John Daly, Darren Clark, Colin Montgomerie, Scott McCarron and Jack Nicklaus.

Tickets, which start at just $10, are still available. This is the second of five PGA TOUR Champions events to be played in Sioux Falls through 2022. Last year’s inaugural event attracted more than 78,000 spectators.

Event Highlights

  • Opening ceremonies — Friday, Sept. 20

The tournament kick-off will feature two of the first families of golf. Jack and Barbara Nicklaus and Dave and Cathy Stockton will be on the first tee as their sons Gary and Dave Jr. compete in the tournament as sponsor exemptions.

Record 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus and two-time PGA Championship winner Dave Stockton will be among those participating in this nine-hole match-play exhibition.

Most events provide a reserved seat and a pattern of activity that has been established over time.  The Sanford International Spectator Journey provides a detailed roadmap to all the elements that will ensure an enjoyable and fulfilling day for all those who attend.

This year’s event will feature the Sanford Children’s Play Zone for kids of all ages, Austad’s Golf & Merchandise Center, Premium hospitality & viewing at Club Cambria, the Ranch presented by the SD Beef Industry Council, and much, much more.
