Miracles on 22nd Street: Lena Olivier

November 16, 2020

On every floor, from room to room at Sanford Children’s Hospital, tiny patients, like Lena Olivier, are fighting big battles. You can give them the best chance to go home healthy.

Lena was born 10 weeks early with complete heart block. After emergency heart surgery, she spent nearly three months in Sanford Children’s Boekelheide NICU.

Today, she’s one year old and has already braved five major surgeries. She continues to rely on expert care at the Castle with therapy twice a week.

It’s a lot for this little girl and her family. But Lena’s mom, Melissa, says they choose to find joy and gratitude in their journey. She’s thankful for her daughter’s life and for people like you who support lifesaving care, close to home.

“It’s care you can’t describe,” Melissa said. “They’ve never given up hope on Lena.”
