The Butler family

Give health: Eli Butler

December 10, 2020

Imagine you’re a parent to three little boys, all under 5.

Your days are the happiest kind of chaos, then one day, the world stops spinning … your youngest is diagnosed with leukemia. Then lymphoma … two types of cancer at once.

A year later, you’re diagnosed with breast cancer.

Where would you find the strength to keep fighting?

For the Butler family in Sioux Falls, strength came from their community, their Sanford caregivers, and people like you.

Thanks to your generosity, Eli and his mom, Kristi, have found the support and specialized care they’ve needed, close to home.

“We can go across town and get everything we need right here in our own community because of the generosity of everybody,” said Eli’s dad, Rob.

“The love and care of the people that work there … it’s phenomenal.”

Because you give, staff and caregivers can go above and beyond for patients of all ages, at all stages of life, in ways that simply would not otherwise be possible.

Just this spring, 6-year-old Eli finished three years of treatment, joining his mom as a cancer survivor, and giving the Butler family a big reason to give thanks this holiday season.
