This Saturday, more than 1,500 community members will come together for the 23rd annual Great American Bike Race (GABR). With many long-time GABR teams and some new faces, this year’s race is likely to be the best one yet.
Meet the team
This year, 12 Sanford POWER employees will be participating in GABR for the first time as the Bismarck POWER Squad. While the group has been talking about getting a team together in the past, this year, they took the leap.

“GABR is a great event for a great cause,” said Chris Rivinius, team leader and manager of Sanford POWER in Bismarck. “We are honored to compete and raise money for kids in our community.”
The Bismarck POWER Squad is ready to ride and hopes to take home a win.
“We’re super competitive,” said Rivinius. “We are excited to compete and are training day and night to get ready for this event. We want to ride the most miles and give back to the Foundation!”
Join the mission
There is still time to make a difference before Saturday’s event. This year, our goal is to raise $500,000 to meet the growing needs of children and families in the region, and we need your help to do it. All funds raised will support kids and young adults with cerebral palsy and other childhood-onset conditions that permanently affect development.
- Donate to your favorite rider. Find a participant and give directly to his or her team at gabr.sanfordhealth.org.
- Bid in our online auction. New this year, we’re hosting an online auction with great packages donated by local businesses and GABR participants. Text GABR to 243-725 to preview the packages. Then starting at noon on Thursday, April 25, place your bids. The auction closes at 1 p.m. on April 27.
- Become a volunteer. We still have a few spots to fill. From registration workers to timers to setup and cleanup crews, there are plenty of options if you would like to help out at the race. Sign up today.
