Cowboy Up Ride Against Cancer

This annual event will bring hundreds together for trail rides, family fun, great food and more in the small town of McLeod, North Dakota, located in the heart of the Sheyenne National Grasslands.

Since 2004, the dedicated riders, their families and friends have raised nearly $1 million to help local cancer patients, like Carl, and their families at the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center.

FRIDAY, AUG. 18

Registration opens and the event will kick off with a trail ride and end with an Extreme Race at the Rodeo Ground.

SATURDAY, AUG. 19

Carl was just 18 when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1988. He faced a 35-year cancer battle in which he is now a survivor. Carl’s path led him to the Roger Maris Cancer Center (RMCC), where he embarked on a journey that would forever link his name to courage and hope. Carl was one of the first patients to receive care at RMCC and he can vividly recall the days when part of the building was still under construction. As one of the center’s earliest patients, he witnessed the foundation being laid for RMCC as a regional cancer destination. In 2008, Carl participated in the Cowboy Up Ride Against Cancer for the first time and has continued to support a cause close to his heart. Over the years, Cowboy Up has transformed into an incredible force for good. Cumulatively raising nearly $1 million, it has become a beacon of hope for those facing their own battles.
