Nothing compares to the bond between a mother and child.
That special connection is why the Edith Sanford Breast Center is here today and it inspires the center’s mission to end breast cancer.
The breast center’s namesake, Edith Sanford, was an adoring mother of two young boys — just toddlers. She was vibrant and loving and full of plans for her growing family. But all that changed the day she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Edith spent the last year of her life clinging to hope that she’d see her sons grow up. But she never got the chance.
Breast cancer stole Edith’s life in 1940. And it left a void in the lives of her children.
In fact, when the Edith Sanford Breast Center was founded through a gift from Edith’s son, Denny. He had just one wish: to help find the cures so that other children wouldn’t have to grow up like he did, without the love of a mother.
We all share that wish. And today, now more than ever, we have a chance to achieve real, meaningful strides against this life-shattering disease.
The power of research
In honor of Mothers Day on May 12, honor moms, and all the women we love, by taking a stand against breast cancer.
Your support for the Edith Sanford Breast Center through the Sanford Health Foundation will make a difference for women across our region and beyond. One hundred percent of every dollar will help provide compassionate, expert care and something equally powerful: hope through research.
Right now, clinical trials are underway here at Sanford, tackling the big questions that will make a real impact in women’s lives.
These trials give our patients access to the most leading-edge breast cancer treatment available. Discoveries help raise the standard of care for all of our patients and accelerate treatments and cures for future generations. You make all of this possible.
Please give today. Help us kick off the month of May with a show of unity against breast cancer — for moms, sisters, daughters, best friends and women everywhere.
